Na Mahones ó Inis Beag

... or: Irish Folk is fun!!

On June 11th in 1993 the Mahones performed live for the first time ever. At that time, the astonished audience counted 13 of them on stage which was almost as crowded as the legendary Café Fritz in Baden (their home town), Austria. Since then, alot might have changed - alot except one thing: The fun in making music never got lost! Further more, they distilled and matured their own style and apart from playing the well-known and loved Traditionals they increasingly perform their own songs.

The band started its career in playing cover versions of songs from famous bands from Ireland and England, like The Pogues or the Oysterband. Later they added not only characteristic dances from north-western areas of Europe to their set but also not so well known material. More and more they proved their good feeling for Irish music by their own varied arranged compositions based on the traditional instrumentation and the four vocal parts.

Be proud of your life and the world you are within, we all are part of creation not allowed to force each other down. We've got to respect nature, each creature - regarding to this we should not be to tame.
